The Department of Bengali has established in the year 1959, along with the inception of the college. The Department developed under various renoun teacher like Mr. Subodh Bagchi (The first HoD of the department), Kalyan Chatterjee, Mrs Mahua Chatterjee, Dr. Dipak Kr. Roy, Dr. Priyokanta Nath , Dr. Ulka Mandal (Barai). At present there is three faculty rendering their service in the department namely as Dr. Rajib Kr. Saha (HoD), Mr Biswa Dhar, Ms. Riya Paul and Mr. Abhijit Sarkar.
Courses Offered
The Department of Bengali at Kokrajhar University offers a comprehensive range of academic programmes designed to cater to students at different stages of their educational journey. The department provides a two-year Postgraduate Degree in Bengali, along with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Bengali under the NEP-2020 framework, structured as a Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP). In addition, Higher Secondary courses are also offered, ensuring a strong academic foundation and a continuous pathway for students pursuing studies in the Bengali language and literature.

Departmental Activities
The Department observes various great programmes like Teachers day, Fresher’s Programme, Rabindra Jayanti, Picnic etc. All the students of the department always take part in the aforesaid programmes. These programmes also encourage them very much and the students get motivated.
Departmental Seminar
The department is always aware with the students overall development, so every year the department arranges various Departmental seminars, students of all level of the department takes part actively. The teachers of the department of Bengali also encourage and guide them properly to prepare the seminar works and to present the papers.
Departmental Picnic
The department also arranges every year a departmental picnic for the students to encourage their overall wellbeing and it is also learning process through an external activities , that is why all students along with all the teachers chooses a suitable day for picnic in the month of January every year.
Departmental Excursion
Every year an educational tour is being organised for the students by the Bengali department, so that the students can learn various things through the outdoor knowledge and atmosphere. The department believes that to become a complete human being every student must go through the practical knowledge and experiences, keeping this thing in mind the department takes initiative in making success the outdoor events like Educational Excursion.
