Laboratory Facility
Department is well equipped with sophisticated equipments. There are separate laboratories for HS, UG and PG classes. Moreover one Research Laboratory is established in the department.Some sophisticated equipments was installed in the Department with the help of UGC,DST and RUSA, Govt. of India. Some of them are:
- UV-Visible Spectrophotometer
- Flame Photometer
- Research Polarimeter
- Digital Conductivity meter
- Digital pH meter
- BOD meter
- Water Testing Kit
- Temperature variable hot air oven and water bath shaker
- Electrical heating instruments, Electronic instruments like digital balances, melting point apparatus, distillation plant etc.
- Laboratories are connected with uninterrupted power supply system.
- Audio-visual teaching aids have been introduced in the Department.
Research Projects
Two Minor Research Project (MRP) financed by University Grants Commission (UGC) is successfully completed in the Department under the following titles-
- Drinking Water Chemistry in Kokrajhar Town, Assam (India): Chemical Correlation.
- Determination of the heavy metal contamination in the water sources of some deep tube wells in Kokrajhar town area of Kokrajhar district (BTAD) Assam.
- Removal of phenol from aqueous medium by adsorption on naturally occurring kaolinite.
- Enhancement of fluoride removal ability of limestone using some common acids.
